Absolutely the worse breakfast I ever had in all my 59 years! The food wasn't even warm, I ordered polish sausage with my eggs got the worse SMOKED sausage I ever tasted no one in my party ever leaves food on their dishes, we all left over half on our plates. The food wasn't even as warm as the toast they served. Then to make matters worse, had the worse pains in my upper stomach soon afterwards and then the squirts. The old Cozmo diner might of been old and dirty but at least the food was hot and I never got sick on it!!! I hate that you cannot post here without leaving a star rating its minus 5 stars save your health go next door even you're better off there

My server Audrey was super sweet and attentive with a big smile on her face. She made sure I had everything. The food was reasonably priced but they could definitely use more seasonings on the steak and mashed potatoes. The gravy on my mashed potatoes was a bit sweet and it tasted like cinnamon. The potions are huge plus you get a soup or salad with your meal. They have a nice dessert selection that is catching your eye as soon as you enter the restaurant.

After waiting months for this new diner to open we finally made it for Sunday brunch. Sitting inside was too loud and jammed up so we got a table on the screened-in patio. New & clean, the food is inexpensive and a good value but the service is poor. "Jenny 37" is disengaged and more of an order taker. Forgot half of our order which another sever had to fix. Poor Jenny......we will be back and hopefully have a better experience.

Great new place and was nice sitting outside, however the food was just mediocre at best. We both had the French dip which tasted like cinnamon and yep they said there is cinnamon in it. Overheard guy behind say the chicken Parmesan wasn't that great and couple sitting next to us left when they heard they didn't have fried chicken. Desserts looked great at checkout but chocolate chip cookie was all dried out like it was baked 3 days ago sitting out. May give a try for breakfast but dinner was ehhh.
(2)Mark S.
Had the burger and fries which were awesome and very well priced. service was super and the place very clean. a big improvement over the previous dump Cosmos.
(4)Unica U.
The food was nothing more than okay with exception of the fries (those were great). I ordered the fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were ok and the gravy was good. The chicken was un seasoned and barely breaded but at least throughly cooked(which was surprising as it was out quick). My husband ordered pancakes which tasted kind of watered down, like McDonalds hotcakes. Our drinks were not refilled and the "chocolate mousse dessert" was just chocolate pudding from a box. Sucks because I'd heard great things about this south Florida "institution" but nope.

Went here for breakfast with my little niece this morning from out of town hoping that she would enjoy it unfortunately that wasn't the case the pan cakes tasted terrible like some sort of flowery mix no Amount of syrup and butter could help them. The breakfast potatoes were mushy and tasteless and lukewarm The eggs and bacon and potatoes that I had were awful lukewarm and greasy what an awful experience the waitress never even came back to check to see if we even needed anything let alone if for meals were alright The only thing she came back for was to give us the check this is the second time we've tried this place I was here with my husband once it wasn't anything to get excited about don't think I'll ever go back again!

Loved everything about this new addition to the Lester's chain, then the food arrived. The decor is very 60's dinerish with a hint of contemporary. It works! The service was inexperienced but pleasant. The matzo ball soup was lovely. The rest of the meal needed a lot of improvement. Overcooked meat. A mountain of dense, Cool Whip style, pie topping that overpowered the pie. Eclair custard was sickly sweet. The meal was not unreasonably priced but Not value for my money. We will try breakfast or lunch next time just to compare if it was the Monday kitchen syndrome

Lester's Diner is an institution in South Florida. The original on State Road 84 has been my post-flight mainstay for years, no matter what time of day (or night) I fly back in to Fort Lauderdale. It took a LONG time for them to renovate Cosmo's Diner on Atlantic to reincarnate it as Lester's, but the wait was worthwhile. It was a rare opportunity for my dad and I to be able to get lunch together in the middle of the work day, so we decided to stop by. We had that idea, along with everyone else in Pompano, because the parking lot was packed. A note on the door reminded patrons that they were still in a "soft opening" phase, and asked for patience. Thankfully we didn't have to wait for a table, as we secured the last available one. The inside of this place is bright and clean, with a simple red, white and chrome color scheme. It looks worlds different from Cosmo's. The even made an outdoor (covered) patio on the east side of the building. No wonder it took forever to open this place. Given how busy this was even during their soft opening, I have no doubt Lester's will do very well here. Just goes to show that Pompano/LHP has a serious lack of restaurant options. Glad we now have another place in this neck of the woods! Now here's the thing about me and diners... I always order breakfast. It doesn't matter what time it is, but there's something about diners that just sends breakfast signals to my brain. Lester's has a huge, jam-packed menu... yet I always turn over to the last page and look for those glorious words that say, "Breakfast served anytime." So while my dad ordered the breaded cod filet sandwich, I ordered two scrambled eggs with extra crispy bacon and well-done home fries. We both really enjoyed our meals! My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly... not super greasy like some diners are wont to do, and my bacon was crispy as requested. The home fries were okay, but were definitely outshined by the eggs and bacon. Meanwhile, the real star of the show was my dad's cod filet. The breading was delicious and crispy, but also not at all oily, while the fish itself was nice and flaky. We asked for some lemon wedges, and got far too few (my dad has not perfected the ask like I have, since when I do eat fish, I need to drown it in lemon), but even so, it was quite tasty. I feel like it's hard to impress my dad, but he really liked his meal and cleaned his plate. We both left here impressed, and happy to have a new dining option in the area. Lester's will certainly be a welcome addition to Atlantic Boulevard.

Big fan of all four of the Lester's Diner locations. Great food! Great staff! A real diner!
(5)Don M.
The matzo ball soup is awesome, Lesters has huge menu so there is something for everyone. Different specials everyday give them a try
(3)Elizabeth J.
This is a great diner with a great variety of food. The Greek options are fantastic and the desserts are awesome!
(4)Tiffany G.
Service has been great both times we were here, but food was just ok-not bad, not great. I ordered the steak medium rare and eggs over medium with home fries and a side of pancakes to share. Steak was overcooked both times. Coffee was good though and so were the pancakes. My husband really enjoyed his omelet. I'm sure we will be back because it's a convenient location for us and my husband loves breakfast for any meal of the day. Hopefully, I'll change my rating after trying a few more things, especially the desserts which look good! (Just to note: My husband says he would have given it four stars, but I'm sticking to three for now.)
(3)Brianna G.
The eggs are always cooked the way i ask and the grilled English is very good however my husband ordered eggs benedict and was turned off by the sauce which clearly isn't made from scratch. it tastes and looks like it came from a packet or a can. also the guy at the register on sunday morning was miserable he didn't crack one smile say hello or thank you to anyone has they paid for their meal.

I have tried this place twice now and would like say the service is horrible. I live in the area and was looking forward to having a Lester 's near me. Management should do something about the service. 1st time it was kinda busy so I wasn't that bothered that the server was taking a bit of time. 2 nd time killed it for Lester 's it was early morning 3 server's working and it was absolutely horrible. Do not go to this place it pissed you off. Absolutely horrible service, if I was you boss you would not have a job.
(1)Dana M.
Great food and great prices! Service was decent, especially considering we went during the Sunday morning rush.
(5)Erik B.
Actually disgusting. How can you mess up a basic breakfast? Lesters manages, somehow. Major yuk factor.
(1)Michael G.
if your into AMERICANA style diners this is the place for you, with its vintage feel and great staff this place makes you feel like your home, my buddy and I ate here for lunch one day not knowing what to expect he ordered the french dip sandwich, and I ordered the shredded pork sandwich we received our orders within 10 mins SUPER FAST! we went back later that same week and my buddy ordered the same thing (something he rarely ever does) this place is awesome.
(5)Lisa R.
Empty except for one couple and they wanted to seat us right behind them. Kind of rude I thought space us out a little geez. Strange layout. Seats/tables so close the people behind you in the booth are super close it was weird like you can hear everything like they are part of your group.I never really noticed this at any other place before! Then as more people came in they like crammed us all in the same section like all right next to each other. Again it was so noticeable here for some reason. Food average kind of bland. Burnt toast. Atmosphere sucks. It was freezing cold all 4 of us felt cold. Bright lights some blocking tv's sucky seats and service not great. Staff not very friendly even the cashier not very nice. Prefer the location on State rd. 84 much better or Moonlight Diner is way better. Not enjoyable. Prices a bit high for what you get. Really have no desire to go back prefer other places for a diner even Denny's is better.
(1)Steven C.
coffee is the bomb, waitresses are pro's. My order was ready so fast it was like a speeding bullet.
(4)Kim P.
Fantastic little diner with outstanding service and wonderful food!!! Also the desserts are as elegant and sweet as the Cashier Dana.
(5)J C.
Food was good. Service was Bad. Our server didn't smile once. Took forever to order food. Didn't come check on us.
(3)Vin T.
So we decided to go to Lester's since we are from New Jersey visiting the fort and dad was craving roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Well....the Mashed potatoes were bland, the croquettes - don't even think about it! My Blue cheese was watered down although my sisters Greek salad was really good.. Mom's Turkey club was ok - you need a big mouth as it has a lot of turkey....the gravy for mashed potatoes was bland...our waitress was overwhelmed and seemed she could not handle the volume of customers. A solid two stars. I would stick to breakfast and sandwiches only.

Having spent a few nights here I did some online research to find a good local place with decent prices.I went to Lesters not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised.I have had Breakfast there each morning.Dinner twice and Lunch once.I leave Tommorow and will have Breakfast there again.I always received a warm greeting upon arrival.Service is terrific and food is good, adequate portions and reasonably priced.Leslie is a superb server.I also had other Servers and they are all good.I will definitely return when back in the area.

No wait and food served fast. Menu sure to appeal to just about every appetite. Wait staff was extremely helpful and eager to serve. Great atmosphere, with a true diner feel. Family of three. I had the ribs and chicken, wife had the ruben and son had meatloaf. We all enjoyed our meal. And, my wallet didn't cry. Worth the visit.

I know, Lester's Diner is like a south Florida staple, but I had never been to one before!! After a long morning diving (and subsequently graduating with Nitrox and Advanced Open Water certs) we felt the best way to celebrate was with a warm meal! My dive buddy suggested Lester's which wasn't too far away. We arrived at 1:30ish, and parking was a bit of a nightmare. Luckily some patrons were on their way out and I grabbed their spot, but others were parked all over the grass in any spot they could find! Inside was pretty busy, but not quite as bad as I had envisioned after seeing the parking, and we easily grabbed two seats at the counter. So, I know I came for a hot meal, but in the end I wasn't all that hungry (I had quite a few Doritos beforehand lol) and ended up getting a Greek salad. Pretty tasty, but the size was a little small when considering the price tag (hence my 3 star review). My friend ordered the burger which he hastily finished off, so I guess he was pleased lol. We paid up at the register right next to the delicious desserts. I held off, but honestly that display was calling my name! All in all, this was one of the nicer diners I've been to in terms of lay-out, ambiance, cleanliness etc. Chris behind the counter did a great job of seeing to our needs.

Very nice crisp and clean new 4th location. Fast and friendly service. Not on menu, but always available Philly Cheesesteak is a hefty portion, used knife anf fork to eat it. Actual strips of steak instead of chipped steak, were a little dry. Thick cut fries have soft inside and very crispy light batter coating.
(3)Andrea A.
Nice, down home diner with great atmosphere and wait staff. Leslie is awesome I had a pastrami and cheese omelet. Quite tasty. And lots of meat. Didn't love the potatoes. Coffee was good and so was the pancake the kids got.
(3)Lindsey M.
I'm a local and went into try it out one day . Nothing special . My husband and I gave this place a few tries every time the food is bland and comes out dry and cold. Last time I went we sat in the screen patio area which is okay but they have an expensive air condition unit that is " broken" made it a hot sticky less then enjoyable experience. Not sure what they are known for but breakfast is not their forte. Parking is a nightmare their lot is too small to even fit their employees and about 5-10 customers. They are not on my top list to go. Mush better places locally to try out.
(2)Bobblehead B.
Went in for a late lunch. Great chicken wing special. Hit the spot. Friendly place with attentive staff. Large menu. Something for everybody. Casual.
(3)Kristi B.
Excellent service by Lizzie. Good was good except for the burger. The books need to learn how to cook a medium rare burger and not send it out as medium well. They are totally different temps
(4)Stephen S.
I had the Ham Steak with Scrambled eggs home fries and toasted Rye toast.. Overall the food was good . The potatoes were average and looked to be frozen potatoes you can buy from the grocery store. Ham steak was very tender and tasted fine.. The place was clean and the service was good.. Overall it was good but there are much better places in the area for similar prices.
(3)Matt H.
Not bad but the coffee needs to be a lot stronger!! Food was pretty good. Waitresses are nice.
(4)Elizabeth J.
This is a great diner with a great variety of food. The Greek options are fantastic and the desserts are awesome!

Saturday 11:30am .Very busy , sat on outside patio , some traffic noise . Ordered the hot Virginia Ham w/ two sides spinach & garlic very good w/ I think thinly sliced onions . & the Homemade Applesauce , w/two slices of white bread under the VHam +a nice thick Brown gravy $10.99 . Me personally, I wouldn't order it again . It was good but , I'll just try something new .

This place is the definition of the expression "packed in like sardines". The tables are super close together, service is mediocre, but the food is good. To start, they pack the tables one right on top of the other. If the person at the table next to you sneezed you would feel the mist... Also the servers have zero people skills. I am all for bitchy waitresses at diners because I know that's the norm, but out of 4 times saying thank you and only receiving a blank stare in return I have to say that they just don't care about your presence in the slightest. The place is turn and burn and I felt extremely unimportant. I ordered biscuits and gravy and it was very good but the rest of the experience was so underwhelming that it really made no difference. High tailed it outa there after paying our bill and won't be rushing back.

Excellent! If you are looking for a place to eat, Lester's is the place. Great food and plenty for the money. The club sandwich is enough for two.

Being a fan of the Lester's on SR84 I was very excited that one has opened in Pompano. The Diner is nicely decorated with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside and were promptly greeted by our server, she was very pleasant and very quick. The menu is large, offering breakfast all day, as well as lunch and dinner options and a large variety of cakes, ice cream, shakes and desserts. I ordered 2 eggs over easy with ham and cheese grits - everything came out super fast and perfectly cooked. I am really picky about my grits and Lester's didn't disappoint, I also enjoyed my ice tea which comes served is a huge glass so you don't have to wait for refills. Our server checked on us several times and took great care of us. Next time I have to try one of the many delicious cakes they have.
(4)Chad V.
Awesome place! Great new look with delicious food. My favorite breakfast spot around for bacon, eggs and a great cup of coffee. Can't go wrong! Thanks Alex and Lester's for coming to town!
(5)Corbin B.
All in all, it wasn't bad. The omelets are fresh, the waitress was prompt and so was the food service. The place is brightly lit with some unique style. A modern 50's diner if you will. The prices are average in comparison to most of today's diners. I would definitely go back to get the same meal or explore other menu items.
(3)Jessie J.
This is the nicest lesters I've been to. It's great for a quick bite at the diner. Clean and new.
(4)Marqus R.
This would appear to be a duplicate entry of this site: yelp.com/user_details?us… which I have reported as being but since at the time of my writing each has one review but by different Yelpers, I'll let Yelp decide which is which or to somehow merge them together. Welcome to Pompano Lester's Diner. I'm really so glad to see you here, especially since you moved into and completely remodeled that won't be missed crap hole of a place, Cosmos. Anyway, this is now Lester's fourth location and though I've only been their location on 84, I have been going to that one for years, even with the four in the morning crowd when the Copa let out. One of best thing about Lester's on 84 has been their friendly jovial service which I am happy to say has carried over and is very evident with this location. Then, as for food, some of the best you'll ever find in any diner with full portions, lots of things included with dinner meals, and reasonable rates. My long time favorites with Lester's has either been their lamb shank or their stuff cabbage. On this occasion I went for their stuffed cabbage which came with a choice of salad, I chose the Caesar, two sides, and a dessert. The romaine of the Caesar turned out to be crispy, fresh with a good enhancing cheese and croutons, actually all the equal in taste as found in some of what our considered to be the better restaurants of the area. After finishing my salad I was served my stuffed cabbage, be two generous good sized cabbage roll with a tomato based sauce which I found to be hearty as well as delicious in taste. And though I am sure it is of the same exact recipe as used at their State Road 84 location, I would actually swear them as being superior to what I have had there. Could it be possible that for their opening that brought in their best cook? Possibly so, I don't know, but I have any other idea of why or how to explain it. Being new, everything in Lester's is spotlessly clean with the new diner décor being just about as good as any décor in diner that I've ever seen. Certainly nothing fancy, but what I would consider to be diner perfect. Another good thing is that this location has a patio or what is more like a Florida room dining area, so that if you want to, you can enjoy being outdoors.

Place just opened and for a newly built place I was pretty dissatisfied with the layout. You don't know if you're in line to look at the cakes pay your check or enter the restaurant lots of confusion as I entered and when I left/paying the check. Overall it's your standard diner with yummy looking desserts and breakfast all day. I had a turkey club and an ice coffee. I enjoyed the ice coffee thought the turkey club was just okay. Was lacking much flavor and they forgot the pickle and coleslaw was warm. I'll give the place a little bit of slack considering it just opened and might be having some of those newly opened growing pains. Will report back on another visit possibly for breakfast.

I am from Northern California where grits are not a normal item on the menu. It took traveling to New Orleans to taste my first grits. The grits here are very good...they're made with plenty of butter. My husband had a side order of Biscuits and Gravy and said they rival his favorites at the Squeeze Inn back home. He also had the Pastrami Omelet and really liked it. Their hash browns are just so so but the eggs over medium were perfect; cooked whites and runny yolk. They have a wide variety of items to choose from on their menu with very reasonable prices. We would definitely come back.

So while my dad ordered the breaded cod filet sandwich, I ordered two scrambled eggs with extra crispy bacon and well-done home fries.

Not bad but the coffee needs to be a lot stronger!! Food was pretty good. Waitresses are nice.

Nice, down home diner with great atmosphere and wait staff. Leslie is awesome I had a pastrami and cheese omelet. Quite tasty. And lots of meat. Didn't love the potatoes. Coffee was good and so was the pancake the kids got.

Awesome place! Great new look with delicious food. My favorite breakfast spot around for bacon, eggs and a great cup of coffee. Can't go wrong! Thanks Alex and Lester's for coming to town!

This is the nicest lesters I've been to. It's great for a quick bite at the diner. Clean and new.

Went in for a late lunch. Great chicken wing special. Hit the spot. Friendly place with attentive staff. Large menu. Something for everybody. Casual.

Excellent service by Lizzie. Good was good except for the burger. The books need to learn how to cook a medium rare burger and not send it out as medium well. They are totally different temps
